BLOGGER SPECIAL: OLIVE & IVY

A VISIT TO THE AVEDA INSTITUTE VANCOUVER

We've paired up with the Vancouver based blogger of Olive & Ivy, Chelsea to use her youth empowering voice and passion for beauty to connect other like-minded individuals to the Aveda experience for a fraction of the cost.

Chelsea received salon services and products in exchange for her honest review...

Back in February, I had my first ever appointment at Aveda Institute Vancouver. This specific salon is located right in the heart of Gastown (one of the coolest areas downtown, in my opinion) and is a hair school that also offers salon services. Getting your hair done by a student may sound a little daunting, but I promise it’s not bad at all.

I’ve had my hair done at hair schools twice since my early high school days when going to a salon was out of the question price-wise. It’s an awesome way to get your hair done affordably – and don’t worry, pretty much everything the students do gets run by or watched over by the educators, so you’re not just giving someone new to hair the free reign on your head!

Anyways, back to the salon. It’s gorgeous! It’s big, spacious and comfortable, and the staff was super friendly. I had my hair done by Shallynn, who is one of the educators at the Vancouver location. She did an incredible job with brightening up my balayage, and I am SO in love with it! I snapchatted my whole Aveda experience, which included yummy coffee, a hand massage (yaaaaas, can I just come in for those every week?) and a head of hair that I am incredibly happy with.

One thing I do want to mention about Aveda is that they use as many natural ingredients as possible in their products, which is not only more gentle on your hair but is also obviously way healthier for you. I have been taking steps over the past few months to become more conscious about ingredients in my skincare, hair care and body care products, so I think it’s great that I’ve found a place to get my hair done that fits in with the changes I am making.

I was also sent an Aveda Light The Way candle. These are soy candles made to support water-related projects through Aveda’s Earth Month Campaign. I think it’s seriously awesome that Aveda does this, and I especially love that 100% of the proceeds go to this cause!

After such a great experience at Aveda Institute Vancouver, I know for SURE that I’ll be back!
